¿Qué es Ethena USDe?

USDe is a crypto-native “synthetic dollar” created by Ethena. It aims to stay close to $1 without holding cash in bank accounts. Instead, it uses on-chain assets and a hedging strategy to offset price moves. There is also a staked version, sUSDe, which is designed to pass through protocol yield to holders.

How Does Ethena Work?


When USDe is minted, the protocol holds approved crypto collateral and takes an equal and opposite position in derivatives (for example, short perpetual futures). This keeps the net exposure close to zero, so changes in the collateral’s price are offset by the hedge. Fees and rewards are paid in USDe terms, and the staked version, sUSDe, accrues variable yield sourced from staking rewards on collateral and from derivatives market funding or basis spreads.

What Makes Ethena Different?


USDe does not rely on bank deposits to keep its value. It uses on-chain custody, exchange venues for hedging, and public reporting to show backing. The model is designed to scale with crypto market liquidity while remaining composable in DeFi. Users who want yield can hold sUSDe; users who want a stable unit for payments or trading can hold USDe.

History and Development


USDe launched in early 2024 on Ethereum. Ethena later introduced a public proof-of-reserves system with independent attestors to verify backing on a frequent schedule. Through 2025 the protocol expanded integrations, including cross-chain availability and broader DeFi support.

Token Supply and Economics


USDe has no fixed cap. Supply grows when new USDe is minted against eligible collateral and shrinks when it is redeemed and burned. sUSDe represents staked USDe and earns variable yield from two main sources: rewards on staked collateral and derivatives market funding or basis. Yield can rise or fall with market conditions. Peg stability relies on creation and redemption at $1 plus arbitrage incentives.

Use Cases of USDe


Traders use USDe as a stable unit of account and collateral in DeFi. Individuals and businesses use it for transfers and settlements without touching bank rails. sUSDe is used by holders who want a yield-bearing position that remains dollar-denominated on chain.
