Bitget has published a research whitepaper titled Bitget Universal Exchange (UEX): Blueprint for Financial Technologies in Crypto, Stocks, Commodities, and Emerging Markets.
The document outlines a theoretical and operational framework for “Universal Exchanges,” which aim to integrate decentralized finance, centralized finance, and traditional asset classes into a single interface.
The Shift Toward Multi-Asset Integration
Authored by Chief Analyst Ryan Lee and CEO Gracy Chen, the paper argues that the current exchange landscape remains fragmented despite rapid technological growth. While many platforms have added Web3 wallets and AI tools, these features often operate as siloed products rather than integrated systems.
Bitget’s research argues that the next phase of competition will not be about adding more products, but about how deeply those products are integrated at the architectural level. The UEX model proposes a unified architecture where on-chain and off-chain assets are accessible via a single account, supported by AI-driven execution and a consistent security layer across various market types.
The whitepaper also includes a comparative analysis of how major trading platforms measure up against UEX readiness. It evaluates the industry across several dimensions, including account unification and on-chain risk controls.
While many exchanges have taken steps toward convergence, the research highlights that full universality requires foundational design choices that are difficult to retrofit later.
A Blueprint for Financial Convergence
The publication arrives amid growing projections for the tokenization of real-world assets. Industry estimates suggest tokenized assets could reach trillions of dollars by 2030, a trend Bitget suggests will necessitate a move away from crypto-exclusive platforms.
Ryan Lee noted that “The industry has reached a point where adding another wallet or another AI tool is not enough. What matters is whether these systems actually talk to each other.” While the whitepaper serves as a roadmap for Bitget’s future development, it is also presented as a broader industry guide for fintech firms and traditional institutions navigating the convergence of digital and legacy finance.
