On September 11, the US is not only commemorating the 9/11 tragedy from 2021, but it's also mourning the death of Charlie Kirk, who was killed in cold blood during a University event in Utah on September 10.
Charlie Kirk's Death Shakes the World
Conservative Charlie Kirk was brutally shot to death in a targeted attack during an outdoor event on September 10 at Utah Valley University.
Kirk, who co-founded the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA in 2012, will remain known for his patriotism and overall work as a member of the Council for National Policy.
Turning Point USA is a US nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative politics on high school, college, and university campuses.
Before he was murdered, Kirk was speaking at a debate hosted by TPUSA.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox said that this is a dark day for the US, a tragic day for the nation, highlighting the fact that this was a political assassination. Authorities are still seeking the killer who shot Kirk during the event.
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that a subject was taken into custody, but was later released after being questioned.
Charlie Kirk was 31 years old and left behind his wife, Erika, and two children.
The brutal event came one day before the US commemorated the tragic 9/11 events that took place in 2001 - another tragedy that had shaken and changed the world forever.
US President Donald Trump Addressed the Tragedy
The US President Donald Trump publicly addressed the tragic events and said that he's filled with anger and grief at the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk, highlighting that this is a dark moment for America.
In a video shared on X, Trump said that Kirk has dedicated his life to open, good-faith debate and become a martyr for truth, democracy, justice, and freedom of the American people, while trying to bring young people into the political process as well.
Other important names in the US, including JD Vance, Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and others, addressed the tragedy. Former US Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush also marked the tragedy, saying that such despicable violence has no place in democracy.
The Crypto Industry Mourns Charlie Kirk's Murder
The crypto industry is also mourning the loss of Charlie Kirk, who was, among others, a Bitcoin supporter and a close ally of Trump.
Among the latest posts shared on social media by Kirk was an observation related to the recent murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska. On X, he said that if we want things to change, it's 100% necessary to politicize the senseless murder because it was politics that allowed a savage monster with 14 priors to be free on the streets to kill her. This was another event that had shaken the US and the world recently.
A lot of people in the crypto industry and beyond are devastated following the latest tragedy and demand justice and the prevention of hate crimes in the future.
Kirk will be remembered as a man who always stood by his Christian values and common-sense principles in a world in which many have forgotten them.
Rest in Peace, Charlie Kirk.
