Binance France told users by email in early November that all accounts will close on Dec. 31, 2026 as it winds down operations in the country. Anyone who has not withdrawn their assets by Nov. 29 will pay monthly maintenance fees on whatever is left.

What the email says

The message cites an "orderly cessation of activities" and states that if you have not withdrawn your crypto-assets by Dec. 31, 2026, the notice counts as Binance's intention to treat the account as inactive under its Terms of Use.

"This can result in the conversion, transfer or other processing of your crypto-assets," the email reads. To avoid fees, withdrawals must be completed by Nov. 29, the exchange said.

  • Monthly fee: 0.025% of the remaining balance
  • Minimum: 10 USDC per month, regardless of balance size
  • The fee applies only to accounts still holding a balance after Nov. 29

The 10 USDC floor means any balance below 40,000 USDC pays the flat amount rather than the 0.025% rate.

The MiCA backdrop

The closure follows Binance's failure to obtain MiCA authorization from any EU member state before the July 1 deadline. In late June, the exchange notified EU users that access to key services would be restricted.

A Binance spokesperson said on Sunday: "Following the end of the MiCA transition period, Binance is progressively restricting certain services for affected users, in line with the schedule previously communicated to them."

Spain and Belgium

There are reports that similar emails went out to users in Spain and Belgium. Asked directly about them, the Binance spokesperson did not address those countries.
