Binance launches regional hub in Georgia

New regional hub aims to attract top talent, facilitate digital finance education, and promote the adoption of crypto in Georgia

Binance, one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, announced today the opening of a new blockchain hub in Georgia.

The Web3 outpost aims to attract top talent to the blockchain sector, facilitate educational initiatives related to digital finance, and further the development of Georgia’s growing crypto industry.

The regional hub is the result of months of productive cooperation between Binance and local public and private sector organizations.

Binance’s Georgia team currently consists of 25 people, with plans to add dozens more jobs by the end of 2023. The launch of the hub also signals Binance’s commitment to ramping up its efforts in blockchain education and the acceleration of crypto adoption in the region.

Binance’s presence in Georgia has grown through a series of strategic partnerships and community initiatives. Earlier this year, the company announced collaborations with cryptocurrency payment gateway CityPay, the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA), and launched a Binance Charity initiative focused on women’s Web3 education.

Furthermore, Binance organized a BNB Chain hackathon, encouraging developers to put their Web3 skills to the test and network with fellow builders.

In January 2023, Binance signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Georgian Business and Technology University (BTU). By March, four more top educational institutions joined the initiative: Alte University, Kutaisi International University, Georgian American University (GAU), and Caucasus University.

Under these agreements, Binance and Binance Academy will provide educational materials and organizational support to help partner institutions elevate their blockchain education programs.

Commenting on the importance of Georgia in Binance’s global strategy, Vladimir Smerkis, Binance’s regional director, said:

“For Binance, Georgia is an important point on our map. To date, we have held three community meetups here, with more than 2,000 people attending in total. We see a huge potential and interest, both from the crypto community and businesses, in the development of digital assets in the country.”

In November 2022, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) visited Georgia and met with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the local business and crypto communities, highlighting Georgia’s status as a hub for advanced financial technologies.

Giorgi Chagelishvili, Binance‘s Georgia general manager, added:

“The opening of the hub in Georgia is a logical continuation of the dialogue that we started with the government last year. Thanks to the hub, we will strengthen the development of the recruiting program in the country, as well as make an even greater focus on the regional presence of Binance.”

The launch of Binance’s blockchain hub in Georgia underscores the company’s commitment to fostering the growth of the global crypto ecosystem and marks an important milestone in the development of the digital-asset industry in the region.
