Blockchain meets filmmaking in “77 Years Back”, merging documentary filmmaking with NFTs

The first Romanian independent documentary launched as an NFT project

A new project has emerged in the cryptocurrency space. “77 Years Back”, the first Romanian independent documentary launched as an NFT project.

The documentary revolves around the journey of Victor Stroie, a 78-year-old man who travels 800km from Oltenia, Romania, to northern Bessarabia. The purpose of his journey is to reconnect with his birthplace, a connection lost when he was forced to flee during the war as a child, severing his ties for 77 years.

The project reached its post-production stages due to the support of early backers. The funds raised were instrumental in paying the post-production team and gaining access to high-standard editing, sound, and coloring studios.

Now, the team behind “77 Years Back” is seeking additional financial contributions through the sale of NFTs. The goal is to submit this documentary to the world’s biggest film festivals, many of which require submission fees.

The creators believe that Victor’s story can resonate with many, especially in a world increasingly divided. The film serves as a reminder of our roots and the importance of understanding our past to better know ourselves. It’s a story of hope, showing that even in the face of adversity, there’s a chance for fulfillment and connection.

The NFT collection consists of 77 pieces, launched on the MultiversX blockchain, on the ICI launchpad. Each NFT is priced at 1.77 EGLD.

The collection includes 70 “common” NFTs and 7 “rare” NFTs, offering various perks to the collectors. These perks range from special film screenings to exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and personalized thank you messages from the filmmaker and Victor himself.

The NFTs will be randomly allocated, so the exact artwork will be a surprise.. For each new transaction on the secondary market, the NFT team will retain 7.7% royalties from the seller, ensuring ongoing support for the project.

“77 Years Back” represents an intersection of blockchain and independent filmmaking. It showcases the potential of NFTs in supporting independent creators and bringing narratives to the forefront.
