On October 1st, the team behind the BNB Chain announced that all BNB Smart Chain (BSC) validators and builders have adopted a new minimum gas price, which makes BSC one of the most cost-efficient blockchains in the crypto ecosystem.
Following the announcement, the number of transactions on BSC is expected to surge.
BSC Adopts a New Minimum Gas Price of 0.05 Gwei
BSC’s new minimum gas price is 0.05 Gwei, which translates into approximately $0.005 per transaction. BSC is ready to accept transactions at this rate starting today, according to the official announcement on X.
The latest move adopted by BSC will bring:
- Faster and cheaper trading
- Enhanced room for innovation
- A stronger position for the BNB Chain in terms of the blockchain ecosystem
The next step would be for wallets, CEXs, and crypto trading platforms to also adopt 0.05 Gwei gas fees in order to align with the network and keep BNB Chain one of the best spots for onchain activity.
Previously, the BNB Chain announced the proposal to slash gas fees in half on September 23, along with a proposal to accelerate block speeds in order to keep BSC competitive with the fastest chains in the crypto ecosystem, including Solana and Base.
In May 2025, the gas fee dropped from 1 Gwei to 0.1 Gwei, and in April 2024, the gas fee dropped from 3 Gwei to 1 Gwei.
Staking APY remains stable above 0.5%, supported by higher trading activity and BNB‘s price surge.
BSC Recent Metrics
According to official data from BSCScan, the number of transactions on BSC in 24 hours is over 16.3 million, up by more than 4%, and considering the latest announcement, the number of transactions on the chain is expected to rise.
In the past six months, the day with the highest transaction number was September 25, with over 18 million transactions on BSC.
The number of BSC unique addresses reached an ATH on September 30, above 654 million with a daily increase of 624,880 addresses.
The latest move made by the BSC will boost the popularity of the entire BNB Chain ecosystem. The official website of BSC shows that the chain has over 1 million daily active users and over 2,000 active dApps.
