Romania is witnessing its biggest humanitarian case in history: Andreea Anița, a 27-year-old girl from Fălticeni, has been suffering from a rare form of cancer for 11 years and needs a life-saving treatment which is only available in the US and costs $2,3 million, according to the campaign leaders.

The humanitarian campaign is led by police officer Dani Cek (Daniel Ceclean), named Man of the Year in Romania in 2025 by TVR1, the national public broadcaster, Father Alexandru Lungu, and an NGO called “Aripi pe Pământ.”

So far, the campaign raised over $1,3 million.

Andreea’s story

Andreea was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called synovial sarcoma, which first appeared in her leg and then spread to other parts of her body.

The treatment that she requires is called Tecelra, which is an innovative T-cell therapy developed in the US and aimed specifically at treatment for synovial sarcoma, when all standard options have been exhausted.

After years of treatment since she was 16 years old, Andreea went through various health problems, including surgeries, the amputation of one leg, the removal of lung lobes, and repeated chemotherapy rounds.

Doctors in Romania and Europe have concluded that there are no real treatment options left for Andreea, and her only chance comes from the US, where Tecelra is available.

However, without the full $2,3 million payment, she cannot receive an appointment or travel to the US.

Less than $1 million is still required

So far, the humanitarian campaign has raised over $1,3 million in five days, and less than $1 million is still needed.

Andreea is currently hospitalized at the Municipal Hospital in Fălticeni with severe health issues following her latest chemo round.

Her story is presented by the Romanian mainstream press and social media, with people from all over the country and beyond struggling to help her.

Despite being in a critical condition, Andreea has been involved in various animal welfare causes, making efforts to help animals in need.
