The second iteration of the family-friendly Bitcoin FilmFest showcased several film premieres and screenings.
These included a biographical film about Carl Menger, the founder of the Austrian school of economics and revered as the “grandfather of Bitcoin”.
Other films explored a dystopian future under a technocratic empire, and the common misconceptions surrounding Bitcoin (BTC) as a “dirty coin” due to its energy consumption and supposed role in illegal activities.
The festival was held at Warsaw’s renowned Palace of Culture and Science, a remarkable example of Stalinist-Gothic architecture.
More Than Just Movies
The festival also highlighted the documentary “My Trust in You is Broken”, which underscores the risks of relying on trusted third parties and tells the story of decentralization.
The film particularly focuses on Nicolas Dorier’s contribution to the Bitcoin ecosystem and his innovative BTCPay Server, which has significantly advanced Bitcoin acceptance globally.
The event evolved into more than just a film festival, with satellite meetups, networking gatherings, and activities for all ages.
One such satellite event was “Sats4Flats”, a private gathering for Bitcoin and real estate professionals to discuss Bitcoin, real estate, and tokenization.
The Sats4Flats event also marked the launch of a new Bitcoin real estate community in Poland.
Bitcoin Halving: A Cause for Celebration
A highlight of the weekend was the Bitcoin halving, an event that happens every four years and reduces the block reward for Bitcoin miners, thereby establishing Bitcoin as a scarce and ultimately deflationary asset.
The festival included a “European Halving Party”, where attendees celebrated the halving into the early hours of April 20.
