What is TRON?

TRON uses a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) model. Holders stake
TRX to gain voting power and elect 27 Super Representatives
that produce blocks in rotation. Blocks confirm in a few seconds.



Users can "freeze" TRX to earn resources called bandwidth and
energy, which cover most transaction and smart-contract costs. If resources
are insufficient, small fees in TRX apply.

TRON is built for high throughput and very low fees, which makes it popular for everyday transfers and stablecoin payments. Its smart-contract engine, the TRON Virtual Machine (TVM), is compatible with Solidity, so many Ethereum-style apps and tokens can run on TRON with minor changes. History and Development

TRON launched in 2017 and moved to its own mainnet in 2018 after starting as an ERC-20 token. Since then, it has shipped upgrades that improved resource management, account permissions, and developer tooling. Token Supply and Economics

TRX has no mining. New tokens and rewards are handled by the protocol’s staking and block production rules. TRX is divisible to 6 decimal places, with the smallest unit called a “sun” (1 TRX = 1,000,000 sun). Staking TRX grants voting power for Super Representatives and can earn rewards, depending on the setup chosen by each participant.
