The Avalanche Foundation, responsible for supporting the Avalanche blockchain network, has unveiled the first five memecoins included in its “community coins holdings.” These coins are part of the Foundation’s wider Culture Catalyst program, designed to “foster web3 creators.”
Foundation Focuses on Community Value
Last year, the Avalanche Foundation announced its intention to acquire memecoins built on the Avalanche network.
As of today, the Foundation’s community coin holdings include:
- Coq Inu
- Gecko
- Kimbo
- NoChill
- Tech
The chosen memecoins, Coq Inu, Gecko, Kimbo, NoChill, and Tech, went through a selection process that prioritized “high community value,” according to the Foundation’s guidelines.
“Every community coin the Foundation holds meets our set criteria for community coin projects,” the Foundation said in a statement. “These guidelines are designed to evaluate a specific coin’s dedication to Avalanche and adherence to fair Web3 practices.”
These criteria encompass a fair launch process, resistance to manipulative trading bots, strong security measures, a sizeable holder base, a decentralized ownership structure, sufficient liquidity, and minimum requirements for a coin’s lifespan, market capitalization, and trading activity.
The Foundation also revealed that they’re currently considering ERC-404 tokens for inclusion in their community coin holdings. Additionally, they acknowledged the possibility of modifying their holdings and the criteria for selecting future community coins.
