Monad, the high-performance Layer 1 blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), has officially announced that its airdrop claim portal will open on October 14, marking one of the most anticipated token events of the year.
The announcement comes as MON-USD perpetuals began trading yesterday on Hyperliquid, giving traders early exposure to the token. The new market has already seen over 28 million dollars in 24-hour trading volume, with MON priced around 0.11 dollars and an estimated fully diluted valuation (FDV) of 13 billion dollars, according to on-chain data.
Airdrop claim confirmed, criteria still unknown
While the airdrop claim date has been confirmed, Monad has not yet revealed eligibility criteria for participants. According to community discussions and previous testnet documentation, potential qualifiers may include users who have been active within the Monad ecosystem before the announcement.
Commonly speculated categories include:
- Testnet users who completed activities such as claiming test MON tokens, minting NFTs like Monadverse or Lil Chogstars, and using DeFi apps like PancakeSwap or Ambient Finance.Community members with roles on the official Discord server, such as Full Access (FA), or participants in programs like the Monad Recognizer initiative.
- NFT and token holders with Monad-linked collections, such as 1M Nads or Cipher POG, as well as holders of partner ecosystem NFTs like Pudgy Penguins or Mad Lads.
- Stakers and contributors in related ecosystems such as Wormhole or Pyth, or high-engagement community members on X (formerly Twitter).
Monad has not confirmed any of these factors, and the team has warned users to rely only on official sources, noting that no eligibility checker will be provided.
