Netflix announced an upcoming movie centered around love and crypto. Kay Cannon will direct 21 Laps Entertainment's next Netflix project called "One Attempt Remaining." Shawn Levy is the movie's executive director, and Jennifer Garner will be one of the protagonists.

Based on the plot revealed by Netflix, the movie will satirize crypto.

"One Attempt Remaining" Plot

What's on Netflix revealed the available details about the upcoming movie.

One Attempt Remaining will feature a young couple who win a small sum in crypto at a casino after getting married.

Eventually, they get divorced and move on with their lives, but they each receive texts involving the SEC about an unclaimed crypto sum worth $35 million - the couple's initial small amount had become a fortune, but the two have to remember the password to their fund.

The couple has one attempt remaining to get the right password and 48 hours before the crypto claim expires, according to Netflix.

They decide to go back and relive the night when they got married and won the crypto at a "craps table" in order to figure out the password and fall back in love.

Netflix Satirizes the Crypto Industry

With its upcoming movie, Netflix seems to be satirizing the crypto industry, linking crypto to the idea of a casino.

Also, the movie makes absurd hints that the SEC would text someone about an "unclaimed crypto sum," and the funds expire in 48 hours.

Realistically speaking, even if some view crypto as a "casino", the SEC would never send messages to people telling them that they have an unclaimed "prize" in crypto. The fact that the couple needs a password to access the funds means that these are stored either on a hardware wallet or on a crypto exchange - either way, the funds in crypto cannot "expire".

Anyway, Netflix's movie might be a good opportunity to take a break from crypto trading and have a laugh.

One Attempt Remaining will reportedly begin filming in February 2026.
