The Solana network, known for its high-speed transactions, encountered a brief outage on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024. Validators confirmed a “performance degradation” that led to a pause in block processing.
Solana Mainnet-Beta is experiencing a performance degradation, block progression is currently halted, core engineers & validators are actively investigating,” stated Laine, a validator for Solana, in an X post.
The network’s system status page updated to reflect this outage, indicating a pause in the blockchain’s operations. According to data from Solana blockchain trackers, blocks were last processed at 09:52 UTC.
In response to this news, the value of Solana’s SOL tokens experienced a downturn, dropping over 4% to $92.
This incident marks almost a year since the Solana network last went down for nearly 18 hours in February 2023, underscoring the challenges faced by high-performance blockchain networks in maintaining consistent uptime. The core engineers and validators are currently working to resolve the issue and restore full functionality to the network.
