Binance is taking a stand and helping people affected by the devastating floods caused by Storm Boris in Central Europe.
According to an official announcement, in a humanitarian effort, Binance Charity is airdropping up to $1.5 million in BNB to Binance users who are identified as living in the areas that have been affected the most by the natural disaster.
User Identification Will Be Based on POA
Binance revealed that user identification will be based on Proof of Address (POA) completed by September 18, 2024. Their completed POA should indicate that they live in the areas of Poland, Romania, and Czechia that were affected the most.
According to the exchange’s announcement, users who are identified as residing in these areas will each receive $50 in BNB in their Binance account.
The announcement also highlights the fact that Binance acknowledges that there may still be a lot of users in the affected areas mentioned above who have not completed their POA yet.
As a result, users can still complete their necessary information for the validation of their POA before October 11.
Binance noted that every user who completed their POA before this date will receive an additional $25 in BNB in their account as a donation.
As revealed by Binance in their FAQ section about this humanitarian aid to affected users, the first batch of funds will start reaching people by October 1, 2024.
Kyrylo Khomyakov, Binance’s General Manager for Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia expressed his awareness about the terrible impact of the floods in Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania.
He said that the natural devastating disaster unfortunately took lives, and destroyed homes and possessions.
Khomyakov said that he hopes that users who receive funds from Binance’s donations can use them to help themselves, their loved ones, and the local communities that need it the most.
